Bespoke website design for fashionable gastro pub
When The Punchbowl, Lapworth gastro-pub (or beer house as it was back in the 19th Century) decided on a rebrand to push their new multi-faceted offering, a new website was at the core of their requirements.
With their popular restaurant, stylish bed and breakfast facilities and charming function spaces, the new website needed to attract new clientele – whilst remaining familiar to regular customers visiting the site to make reservations or to check the events calendar.
What we did
After working up some initial design concepts, we were appointed to design and build The Punchbowl, Lapworth’s new website.
The client already had a good idea on colour palette, opting for autumnal hues in golds and purples, which were coupled with hand-painted paisley effect motifs and a modern take on a font which perhaps wouldn’t have looked out of place back when the historic pub first opened its doors.
This contemporary twist on historic patterns and typography worked brilliantly across the site, off-set with a mixture of contemporary lifestyle photography and food shots good enough to make your belly rumble.
How we did it
We consulted the marketing team on several different design features, like hero images and pods so they could make an informed choice on the look and feel of their new site. The client opted to write the copy themselves, so we ensured the designs were ready and waiting once they had finalised the text for each page.
The site is built on WordPress, but each page uses a different template to give a rich user experience across a clean, fuss-free site design.
